“The fact that I can't even tell it's 6 degrees outside when I wake up in the morning speaks for itself. Have wasted so much money attempting to heat and cool an uninsulated home. Worth every $.”

“I was extremely satisfied with the service they provided. They gave a very thourough explanation of the materials used, the way the work will be carried out and the price I had to pay was the exact amount quoted, no hidden costs included. They arrived on time, well prepared and workwas carried out exactly how they said it would be, they were super efficient, well prepared and were kind enough to even clean up after themselves. The services they provided was second to none! I don't hesitate to recommend them for any insulation job!”

Fibreglass batts — what you're actually buying
The plain buyer's guide to batts: what they are, what they cost, where they work and where they fall down, from the bloke who quotes both products.
The best insulation if you have asthma
The glass industry's own documents tell people with breathing problems to reduce their exposure. A straight comparison of fibreglass, polyester and Cellulose Fibre Insulation for a breathing-sensitive household.
How much fibreglass dust ends up in your house
Every number in one place: how the fibres get out of the roof, how far they travel, how many kilograms are up there, and the boron-versus-dust comparison.
Is there glass in your drinking water?
The glasswool blanket under a metal roof finishes at the fascia, right on the gutter line. What the bushfire standard actually requires, what your tank filter stops, and the US federal finding that nobody has ever tested swallowing glass fibre.
Why is insulation advice so confusing?
Since 2003 nobody installing insulation in Queensland has had to be qualified, so most 'advice' is a sales pitch for whatever that mob happens to sell. How to read a quote and spot it.
Roof leaks & insulation
Cellulose discolours where water runs across it, so it doubles as a built-in leak detector. What the free roof inspection covers, and why we never insulate over an active leak.
What type of roof do I have?
Identify your roof — iron, tile, fibro, metal tile, ClipLok, raked or exposed-beam — with real photos and job videos, and exactly how we insulate each one.
What happened to Australia's insulation companies?
The Yellow Pages were full of them: many cellulose makers. Most are gone now. The grant that did it, and a directory of the names that didn't make it.
Are the fibreglass batts in my roof a cancer risk?
The honest paper trail: fibreglass insulation batts were classified a possible carcinogen in 1988, and the rating came off in 2001 — the same year the fibre itself was reformulated to dissolve in lung fluid. What that means for the pre-2001 batts already in your roof, and how to handle them.
Coarse vs fine cellulose fibre grades
Some Queensland manufacturers mill coarse, we mill fine — neither insulates better. What AS/NZS 4859.1 actually tests, plus a photo of coarse-grade fibre still working after roughly 30 years in a roof.
How to choose a local insulation installer
The installer matters more than the product. Why we don't use subbies, and the 6 questions to ask before you book.
How not to get ripped off in Brisbane
40 years of tricks of the trade: the questions to ask before anyone gets on your roof.
Do insulation gaps matter?
About 6% gaps roughly halves a ceiling's effective R-value, so a rated R5 batt performs like R2.4. Why batts gap, why steel frames make it worse, and how seamless cellulose fixes coverage.
Downlights & insulation: the R-value killer
Halogen downlights force a 200mm bare gap that can drop R4.0 to R1.4. The safe, standards-based fix (and why we don't bury them).
Climate zones & R-value (NCC)
What R-value you actually need for a SE-QLD roof, and why more isn't always better.
Underfloor insulation cost (QLD)
Real SE-QLD price bands for polyester vs foam, and why the cheapest can cost the most.
Ceiling insulation cost (Brisbane & SE QLD)
What a ceiling actually costs, GST included, what moves the price, and a 2002 paper showing why paying for a bigger R-value usually buys you almost nothing.
What is Cellulose Fibre Insulation made of?
Three ingredients off the safety data sheet: 80% shredded newsprint, 12% boric acid, 8% borax. The document itself, what the borates do, and the 1992 rat study explained.
Best underfloor insulation for SE QLD
A climate-zone-2 buyer's guide: polyester > foil > foam for our humidity, resale and removability.
Polyester underfloor batts (R3.0)
Why we fit R3.0 polyester under raised timber floors, why a stapled batt barely works, why mop water runs straight through, and what every big brand's warranty fine print really covers.
DIY insulation batts like a pro
The real safe-site method from our training, and why most people end up pumping cellulose instead.
Insulation removal, the reality
What removal actually looks like on the day: vacuuming a 20-year cellulose job out clean, against pulling rat-soiled fibreglass batts in a full suit and respirator — filmed on real jobs.
Rodent damage in roof insulation
Rats and mice burrow into fibreglass and polyester batts just the same. The real damage we find in roofs, how long it takes, and why cellulose fixes it properly.
What happens to old fibreglass batts?
Why a batt job leaves a pile of plastic behind, where it all goes, and why cellulose's reusable bags and recycled-paper base are the more environmentally friendly option.
