FAQ · Who makes it · Tiaro QLD
Who makes cellulose insulation in Queensland?
We do. We make our own cellulose at our family factory in Tiaro and install it ourselves across South East QLD. One of very few cellulose makers left in Australia, and the only one we know of still making it here in Queensland.
It’s a question worth asking, because almost nobody who insulates Queensland homes actually makes the insulation. Most companies are installers; they buy whatever product turns up on the truck and pump it in. We’re different. We make our own cellulose fibre at our family factory in Tiaro, and the same family installs it across South East Queensland. That’s the bit nobody else around here can really say.
We're one of the very few remaining cellulose-fibre insulation manufacturers in Australia, and the only one we know of still making it here in Queensland.Cellulose is one of the few insulation products still genuinely made in this country rather than imported, and ours is made here in Queensland from recycled Australian waste paper. When you ring around for insulation quotes, you’re usually talking to a reseller. When you ring us, you’re talking to the people who run the machine that makes the product and then climb into your roof to install it. There’s no one in the middle.
“We make it and we install it. There’s no one in the middle, so the quality is on us from the recycled paper right through to the photos of your finished roof.”

Made and installed by the same family
What it actually means that we make our own cellulose.
It's not just a slogan. Here's what end-to-end control means for the insulation that ends up in your ceiling, and why it's something almost no other insulation business can offer.
We make it and we install it
We're one of very few businesses that both manufactures and installs its own cellulose, so there's no supplier to ring and no importer to blame. The quality is on us, from the recycled paper to the photos of your finished roof.
Made here in Queensland
Most insulation in this country is imported or made by a company that never sees your roof. Ours is made at our family factory in Tiaro and installed across South East QLD by Comfort Zone franchise owner-operators. Local families running their own businesses to our standards.
We know what's in every bag
Because we make it, we know exactly what goes in: recycled paper fibre treated with borax and boric acid for fire and pests. No ammonium sulfate, no formaldehyde. Made to the Australian Standard for thermal insulation materials, AS/NZS 4859.1.
No middleman markup
The product's already ours by the time it reaches your roof, so you're not paying an importer's or a wholesaler's margin on top. You're paying for the cellulose and the crew that puts it in properly.
A note on the standard: every insulation sold in Australia has to meet AS/NZS 4859.1, the Australian Standard for thermal insulation materials, and ours is made to it. We’re finalising the current certification paperwork, so we’ll say our cellulose is “made to the Australian Standard” rather than quote a certificate number until that’s verified. That’s the honest way to put it. There’s more on the factory and how the product’s made on our Tiaro factory page.

Why it matters who makes it
The contractor matters more than the brand on the bag.
People assume insulation is insulation, that the name on the bag is what matters. It isn’t. An installer who only buys product can blame the supplier when something’s wrong, and a manufacturer who never climbs into a roof never sees how it really performs. We do both, so the quality is on us, end to end. It also means the product can’t quietly change on us. We’re not at the mercy of whatever a supplier decides to put in the bag this month.
That control is also why our cellulose can carry a written, transferable Life-of-House Guarantee. We’re confident enough in something we make ourselves to back it for the life of the house. It’s family-owned and family-run, with my sons Noah and Eli part of it, and it’s installed by Comfort Zone franchise owner-operators trained to one standard , every job photographed and the photos checked before you’re invoiced. Honest answers
Who makes it. The questions I get asked most.
Who makes cellulose insulation in Queensland?+
We do. We make our own cellulose-fibre insulation at our family factory in Tiaro, Queensland, and we install it ourselves across South East QLD. We're one of the very few remaining cellulose-fibre insulation manufacturers in Australia, and the only one we know of still making it here in Queensland. Most insulation companies are installers who buy whatever product turns up on the truck; we run the machine that makes the cellulose and then climb into your roof to pump it in. That means we control the quality from the recycled paper right through to the photos of your finished ceiling.
Is cellulose insulation made in Australia?+
Most insulation sold in Australia is either imported or made by a company that never sees the inside of your roof. Cellulose fibre is one of the few products still genuinely made here, and ours is made at our own factory in Tiaro, Queensland, from recycled Australian waste paper treated with borax and boric acid. Because we manufacture it ourselves, we know exactly what's in every bag: recycled paper fibre and the borate treatment for fire and pests, with no ammonium sulfate and no formaldehyde. Every insulation sold in Australia has to meet the Australian Standard for thermal insulation materials, AS/NZS 4859.1, and ours is made to that standard, so the product that leaves Tiaro is made to a known benchmark, not whatever turned up cheapest on a container.
Do you make the cellulose you install, or buy it in?+
We make it. That's the bit almost no other insulation business can say. We're one of very few companies that both manufactures and installs its own cellulose fibre, so there's no supplier to ring and no importer to blame when something needs to be right: it's our factory and our product, and it's family-owned and family-run, with my sons Noah and Eli part of it. The cellulose is installed by Comfort Zone franchise owner-operators, other families running their own businesses to our systems and standards, not cheap subbies paid by the job. Every job is photographed and the photos are checked before you're invoiced, the same system on every job. There's no middleman markup either, because the product is already ours by the time it reaches your roof.
Why does it matter who manufactures the insulation?+
Because the contractor, and who stands behind the product, matters more than the brand on the bag. An installer who only buys product can blame the supplier when it's wrong; a manufacturer who never climbs into a roof never sees how it actually performs. We do both, so the quality is on us end to end. It also means the product can't quietly change on us; we're not at the mercy of whatever a supplier decides to put in the bag this month. And it's why our cellulose can carry a transferable Life-of-House Guarantee: we're confident enough in something we make ourselves to back it for the life of the house.
